Nottinghamshire County Council chairman congratulates Mansfield Town on promotion
The Stags were crowned champions of the Blue Square Bet Football Conference on Saturday evening after securing a 1-0 victory over Wrexham.
They will return to the Football League five years after being relegated, taking their place alongside Nottinghamshire’s two other league clubs, Nottingham Forest and Notts County.

“I am a big football fan and I always like to see the local teams doing well. Mansfield shot to national attention and did the county proud during their amazing FA Cup run this year, culminating in a fantastic showing against the mighty Liverpool at the One Call Stadium. But promotion even tops that.
“The Stags success adds another achievement to an incredible 12 months for Nottinghamshire sport. Carl Froch winning the World Super-Middleweight title, a big medal haul for Team Notts at London 2012 and the Nottingham Panthers winning an amazing treble have been just some of the highlights.”
