Selston and Hucknall Town keep up pressure on Belper United in Central Midlands Football League

The Boxing Day programme in the Central Midlands Football League almost fell victim to the wet conditions, with matches at Bentley, Appleby Frodingham, Glapwell and Holbrook falling by the wayside.

However two games survived, with Hucknall Town and Selston increasing the pressure on Black Dragon Badges South division leaders Belper United.

Selston travelled to Pinxton and overran the hosts by five clear goals.

Wayne Cooke opened the scoring with a quarter of an hour gone, before Joe Riley added a second four minutes late.

Carl Moore hit the back of the net either side of half-time, with sub Dominic Airey rounding things off after 76 minutes.

At Watnall Road, Hucknall Town beat neighbours Hucknall Rolls Leisure 2-0 in front of a healthy Boxing Day crowd of 171 to gain a measure of revenge for the League Cup defeat earlier in the season.

Despite having to play for 50 minutes with ten men after Cameron Davidson received his second yellow, Town were in control for long periods, though Rolls did create several chances of their own.

The goals came in a four minute spell in the first half, both created by the impressive Niall Thompson.

He scored the first himself on 32 minutes, then created the opportunity for Tom Crisp to add the second.

The home side also missed a penalty in the latter stages as Rolls keeper Jack Walker pulled off a good save.

The result leaves Hucknall three points behind Belper with a game in hand with Selston a point further behind but with a two match advantage.
