The 21-year-old put pen-to-paper on a deal at One Call Stadium following positive negotiations between the player and manager Adam Murray.

Hamilton, who is predominantly a left winger, becomes the Stags’ fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of striker Danny Rose, defender George Taft and fellow winger Ashley Hemmings.

After graduating from the Blades’ academy, Hamilton signed professional terms at the Bramall Lane club in July 2015.

The speedy winger then spent two months on loan at National League side Halifax Town at the start of the 2015/16 season, where he scored three goals in six appearances.

After returning from his loan spell with the Shaymen, Hamilton joined Gateshead where he enjoyed a sustained run in the side and made 25 appearances, including 17 starts.

After finalising his deal at One Call Stadium, Hamilton said: “I’m just glad to be on board.

“I’m liking the way the lads spoke to me about how next year’s going to go and I think it’s a place where I can see myself fitting in.”

The deal is subject to Football League approval and begins July 1.

Earlier today out-of-contract pair Reggie Lambe and Ryan Tafazolli joined Carlisle United and Peterborough United respectively.
