HORSE RACING - MANSFIELD MAN WINS SOUTHWELL'S RICHEST RACE
MANSFIELD jockey Darren Williams was the toast of Southwell on Monday when he rode Juwwi to victory in the richest-ever race at the track.
With added prize money, the Arena Leisure Handicap over five furlongs, netted 20,000 and was won by Wiliams by half a length.
Juwwi is trained by Milton Bradley at Chepstow and is noted for making late runs from the back after starting well down the field. But it was the seven-year old s first win for some time.
A delighted Williams, who claims 5lbs, is working for Karl Burke at Newmarket and is now on the look-out for more rides.
