Wetherby 2.55 WIN

Britain’s racecourses are awash with rain. Everywhere you look, there is heavy ground, so it’s probably best to play safe after yesterday’s near miss. Tim Vaughan’s exciting, young chaser owned by JP McManus, must carry a 5lb penalty for an impressive victory on his fencing debut at this track in November. But against moderate opposition, it should not inconvenience him. Even in defeat last time, the six-year-old underlined his potential, travelling extremely well and jumping with expert economy.

BOXING DAY: RAYA STAR 2ND (8/1)
