Horse-racing ‘Tip Of The Day’ — Tuesday December 11
Tuesday December 11
ENCHANTED GARDEN
Sedgefield 3.20 WIN
North Yorkshire trainer Malcolm Jefferson enjoyed one of the best seasons of his long career last year when saddling doubles at both the Cheltenham Festival and Aintree’s Grand National meeting. He isn’t in such bright form at the moment, but unless there are any above-average newcomers in the field, he has a big chance of landing this Bumper. Jefferson’s four-year-old son of Sulamani has already finished second in a couple of similar races, the form of which was franked twice over yesterday by horses he beat into third. First, Liberty Court ran a blinder to bustle up an odds-on favourite on his hurdling debut at Fakenham and then Spitz bolted up at Musselburgh. Jefferson knows the family of Enchanted Garden well because he is a half-brother to stable stalwart, Calatagan. To steer him home, the trainer turns to Brian Hughes, who has the best strike rate of all the jockeys used by the yard in recent seasons.
