RACING TIP OF THE DAY

KNIFE POINT
Leicester 3.10 WIN
Newmarket handler Hugo Palmer has made a really striking impact this season. Even at this late stage, his horses are running consistently well, so I’m hopeful that this lengthy, lightly-raced three-year-old can add to Palmer’s successes. A son of Derby winner High Chaparral, he caught my eye when almost making all under a well-judged ride by James Doyle in a 12f handicap at Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire meeting a couple of weeks ago. Doyle is in the plate again today on a similar galloping track sure to suit the gelding. It’s a competitive handicap, for which he’s been raised 4lb, but he’s a well-regarded, improving sort who won’t be inconvenienced if yesterday’s heavy rain has eased the ground.
