Salisbury 1.45 WIN

My local track, Nottingham, stages a tasty card this afternoon featuring the first finals of the new Jockey Club Grassroots Series. But it’s to Salisbury I head for the day’s nap -- and how appropriate, in Arc week, that he has Dancing Brave blood running through his veins. Sir Michael Stoute’s colt, who is related to the brilliant winner of the Longchamp race through the dam, is considered very much a project for next year and, by all accounts, he looked on the weak side ahead of his debut at Leicester three weeks ago. But he caught the eye to such effect, running on nicely at the death, that it was no surprise to discover that he is entered in next year’s Derby. A son of a former Derby winner, High Chaparral (who, incidentally, was also a close third in the Arc of 2002), and owned by Khalid Abdulla, he is sure to have come on a lot for that first appearance and will appreciate the step-up to 1m.
