ROLLERS CROWNED CHAMPIONS AGAIN

JUBILANT HUCKNALL ROLLS-ROYCE are on the march up the South Notts League after clinching their second successive championship.

Rolls were crowned Division 1D winners when beating Ruddington last Saturday only 12 months after landing the 1E title.

Already promoted, they batted with supreme confidence and amassed a five-an-over total, spearheaded by Scott Andrew, Malc Swannell and Craig Langton.

Openers Andrew (27, four fours) and Swannell (35, three fours) put on 45 for the first wicket and then Langton joined Swannell to dominate a third-wicket partnership of 93.

Langton lashed five sixes and three fours in a thrilling knock of 56 in only 13 overs.

Ruddington hit back to claim seven wickets in only 12 overs thanks to Cowlard (four for 38 in ten overs) and Williams (three for 43 in nine).

But the scoreboard kept ticking over and a late flurry from Ian Lobb (27, five fours) and Phil Wheat (12, two sixes) took them to the brink of 200.

It was too much for mid-table Ruddington, most of whose batsmen played themselves in and reached double figures but could not progress much further.

Two early run-outs didnt help their cause and they were always behind the clock.

From 70 for two, wickets fell at regular intervals to Andrew (two for 26 in five overs), skipper Graeme Wright (two for 14 in seven) and Pete Cooper (two for 38 in nine).
