PAPPLEWICK AND LINBY 96 BALDERTON 99-0

DEPLETED and inexperienced Papplewick and Linby were swamped by tabletopping Balderton in their latest Newark Sunday Alliance, First Division match.

Papplewick were on the back foot from the moment opener Jamie Peat was caught behind in the fourth over. And only three batsmen mustered double figures – Rohan Shah (29, one six and three fours), Richard Copson (14) and Jon Thrower (ten).

The Balderton bowlers to inflict the damage were Paul Colcomb (five for 31 in six overs), Tim Clipsham (two for 16 in nine) and Ian Black (two for 22 in seven).

Clipsham then led the visitors’ reply, which knocked off the required runs in under 14 overs without the loss of a wicket. He made 40 not out, which included five fours, while fellow opener Jack Beckett hit 51 not out (one six and seven fours).

n IN DIVISION Four of the Newark Sunday Alliance, ROLLS-ROYCE LEISURE had to forfeit their match at Ransome And Marles after failing to raise a side.
