Garage Royalty descends on Nottingham as Garage Republic Festival takes over Binks Yard

Nottingham's Binks Yard was transformed into an open-air UK Garage celebration on Saturday, 15th August as Garage Republic Festival returned for another summer takeover, drawing hundreds of fans to the city's Island Quarter from 2pm until late.

The outdoor festival space played host to a heavyweight lineup of garage legends, with the Nottingham crowd treated to a full day of the anthems that defined a generation.

Among the highlights was a full set from Nottingham's own Monsta Boy, the duo of D and Stickz, joined on stage by vocalist Denzee, alongside MC Preshus and DJ Swift Beats.

Their performance of BPI silver-certified No.1 UK dance hit I’m Sorry brought the crowd to a standstill.

Twenty-six years on from the original release, the track still hits as hard as ever.

The duo were among a remarkable bill that also included Dane Bowers, DJ Luck and MC Neat, Kele Le Roc, Oxide and Neutrino, Wideboys, and Harvey and Romeo, two of the most recognisable names from So Solid Crew, the Battersea collective who helped shape the sound of a generation.

Over in Cargo Park, hosted by Drop It Like It's Hot, a separate stage kept the energy going with classic 90s and 00s hip hop from Esco-Bar, Fever T-Free and KB.

For Monsta Boy, the Binks Yard appearance was a reminder of what D, Stickz and Denzee have always brought to a live setting, real energy, real history, and a track that a room full of people still know every word to.
