Ansell to head cast as Prince Charming

The nation’s favourite Prince of Pop-opera and classical crossover chart-topper Jonathan Ansell will be joined by Eurovision queen Nicki French and Britain’s Got Talent impressionist Philip Green in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield, later this year.

Jonathan, who will be starring as the perfect panto prince, shot to fame in the pop-opera boy band G4, mentored by Louis Walsh in the first series of the popular ITV talent show The X Factor.

From their early days together at the world-renowned Guildhall School of Music and Drama, G4 went on to capture the country’s hearts with their classical spin on chart-topping tunes such as Everybody Hurts and Bohemian Rhapsody.

With X Factor audiences of ten million, the group, who eventually finished as runners-up, went on to massive success with a self-titled debut album reaching number one and becoming the fastest selling album of the year.

Three hectic years of sellout UK tours, platinum and double platinum album sales, chart-topping number ones, and a bestselling autobiography followed before the hugely popular boy band called it a day and Jonathan signed a solo record deal for £1 million.

Contrasting with the classical charm of Jonathan is Eurovision Song Contest and chart-topper Nicki French as the deliciously devilish Wicked Queen.

Fans of the annual camp singing contest will be familiar with Nicki’s euro entry Don’t Play That Song again and her number one chart topping dance hit Total Eclipse of the Heart, which stayed in the American Billboard for six months.

No stranger to theatre, Nicki took the West End by storm in Menopause the Musical before touring the country in the much loved musical Annie and in the popular children’s classic tale of Rapunzel. She promises to deliver just the right amount of menace and meanness when she demands her magic mirror to tell her who is the fairest of them all.

Bringing a host of familiar voices to pantoland and playing the Wicked Queen’s side-kick Herman the Henchman, is actor Philip Green, who kept the nation entertained with his many hilarious impressions in Britain’s Got Talent.

The panto runs from Friday, December 4, until Sunday, January 3. Tickets are available on 01246 345 222 and online at www.chesterfieldtheatres.co.uk
