Gaming classic comes to life in Street Fighter at Hucknall's Arc Cinema

The big new film out at the Arc Cinema in Hucknall this week is Street Fighter (12A).

A new live-action adaptation of the Street Fighter video game franchise brings characters to the screen, including Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, and M. Bison. The ensemble cast features Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Jason Momoa as Blanka, and Roman Reigns as warlord M. Bison.

Elsewhere, animation takes centre stage at the High Street venue this week with three new family films, starting with DreamWorks’ Forgotten Island (PG).

Jo and Raissa have been best friends since grade school but are about to go their separate ways when they stumble upon a portal that takes them to the island of Nakali.

There they encounter magical and mythological creatures from their Filipino family stories, and must face The Dreaded Manananggal when they learn their memories of friendship are the price of getting home.

Also showing is Monster Mia (U) in which expelled student Mia and her pet rat Quentin arrive at Rotwood Academy, where she is the only human among monster classmates.

With Principal Van Vlad hostile to humans, she must team up with the monsters to thwart his schemes.

The final animation is Tad and the Magic Lamp (U) in which Tad and his family are transported on an adventure after finding the lamp in Buckingham Palace.

Their journey takes them across the Atlantic from Peru to Greece and on to the cave of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.

And starting this week is a new event, Mystery Movie Night, where you get a special advanced preview of a brand-new upcoming film – but you won’t know what it is until it begins.

It could be the next big blockbuster, a hidden indie gem, or an eagerly-anticipated release.

One screen, one surprise, no spoilers allowed.
