The company is looking to expand its business in Nottinghamshire with up to 10 new drive-thru restaurants – and Hucknall is rumoured to be one of the towns the company is looking at opening up in.
A KFC spokesperson said: “We know our fans in Hucknall are always looking for ways to get their fried chicken fix, so we’re on the lookout for new sites.
"Nothing is confirmed yet, but watch this space.”
Currently, KFC does not have a restaurant in Hucknall but does have one in nearby Bulwell – one of 20 outlets it currently has in Nottinghamshire .
The company has previously said it has ambitions to open more than 50 new restaurants a year as part of a huge expansion programme.
Should KFC come to Hucknall, it will create new jobs and help the economy.
But there will also be concerns over the impact on local businesses, particularly food outlets, of another fast food chain coming into the town.
McDonald’s, Greggs and Pizza Hut already have outlets in the town.
And Coun David Shaw, who represents Hucknall on Ashfield District Council for the Ashfield Independents added that the proposed location for the new drive-thru restaurant, would be a factor when the time came for KFC to formally announce plans to open up in the town.
He said: “The fact that another major chain wants to invest in our town is a great vote of confidence in Hucknall.
"However, it must be in the appropriate place.”
“KFC hasn’t identified any location as yet in Hucknall nor has it submitted a planning application to Ashfield District Council.
"The Ashfield Independents will only support a drive-thru KFC in Hucknall if it is in the right location.
"We will not support it in areas that are constantly gridlocked.
"Any new restaurant must not have detrimental impact on the amenities of local residents.
"This includes the impact of the restaurant in terms of anti-social behaviour, noise and litter.”
As well as Hucknall, other Nottinghamshire towns KFC is said to be interested in opening up in, include Worksop, Retford, Arnold, Bingham and Beeston.
