Hucknall nursery described as 'a place where children thrive' in glowing Ofsted report

Broomhill Day Nursery, based at Hucknall Family Hub on Broomhill Road, which is part of The Early Years Community, was awarded ‘strong standard’ in all six areas it was assessed in – achievement; behaviour, attitudes and establishing routines; children's welfare and wellbeing; curriculum and teaching; inclusion and leadership and governance.

Under Ofsted's new inspection framework, ‘strong standard’ recognises settings where leaders are working above the standards expected of them.

The report praised the nursery's nurturing environment, ambitious curriculum, inclusive approach and the strong relationships staff have developed with children and their families with inspectors saying children ‘thrive and flourish at this nursery’.

Inspectors also highlighted the nursery's commitment to developing communication and language skills and its commitment to inclusion and supporting families within the local community.

Inspectors recognised the nursery's work with children with SEND, its targeted teaching approaches and its proactive use of additional funding to ensure children can access meaningful learning opportunities.

The report also highlighted the practical support offered to families, including healthy eating guidance, toileting resources, oral hygiene support and connections to services available through the local family hub.
