Freak weather and ‘mini tornadoes’ hit Mansfield, Warsop and Shirebrook - YOUR pictures

A clean up operation has begun after strong winds and heavy rain wreaked havoc across Mansfield and Ashfield at the weekend.

Several properties and vehicles were damaged in Shirebrook, with the Bracken Ridge estate bearing the brunt of what some residents described as a ‘mini-tornado’ striking the neighbourhood.

One householder told Chad that it was a like a ‘war zone’ as he drove onto the estate shortly after the freak storm on Saturday afternoon.

Pictures sent to us by Chad readers on Facebook show the clear extent of the damage caused by the weather - with cars damaged and trees and roof tiles strewn across roads.

Tony Hubbard sent us one photograph of a tree which had come crashing down on Forest Road in Warsop, while Valene Powell has posted several pictures on our Facebook page of the storm damage on the Bracken Ridge estate in Shirebrook.

There were also trees uprooted on Heath Avenue in Mansfield.
