Mansfield man charged after Sutton hit and run

A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with a collision in Sutton.

Ryan Clinton, of Gladstone Street, Mansfield, is appearing at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court today (1st September) charged with two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, failing to report a collision, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance or an MOT.

A 24-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and bailed pending further enquiries.

The collision, involving a white Nissan and a silver Peugeot, happened in Mansfield Road at about 9.40pm on Thursday (28th August).

A man and a woman were injured in the incident and the woman remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision. Officers are also trying to trace a woman motorist who is believed to have seen the Peugeot prior to the collision and stopped at the scene before officers arrived.
