Parish precept decrease again

While Pleasley folk may, like everyone else, may have to tighten their belts in these harsh economic times, they will not have to dig any deeper for their precept.

It has been set at £73.61 for 2014-15.

A spokesman said: “Due to the financial constraints all councils and our parishioners are going through at the moment with regard to household incomes and budgets the councillors have agreed not only to hold the costs required for the smooth running of the parish but also reduce the amount of precept required.

“We have, through our diligence and cost saving measures been able to achieve this for the past six years and will continue to strive to do so.”

Elsewhere in the parish, the first phase of the New Houghton development was officially recognised by Kier Partnership Homes by the cutting of the first sod by Ken Walker, chairman of Bolsover District Council.

At Monday’s parish meeting PCSO Dave Hancock, of Derbyshire Police, reported 14 criminal offences in Pleasley and New Houghton in January.

There were five thefts, seven incidents of criminal damage, one burglary and one sex offence.

Meanwhile, Lavinia Warner, Pleasley TV producer and creator of epic adventure drama Tenko will be giving a talk on the show at the Verney Institute, Newboundmill Lane, on 24th March at 6.15pm.

Admission is free. For more information phone Howard Wright on 01623 810486.
