Nottinghamshire Fire Service celebrate International Control Room Week

Throughout International Control Room Week Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Services will celebrate the vital role their Joint Control Room plays in emergency response.

The awareness week runs until November 1 and is an opportunity to celebrate the work of fire control operators.

Station Manager for Joint Control, Sarah Crannage, said: “When you're handling an emergency call, every second counts. Fire Control Operators need to quickly gather and assess information to help crews respond safely and effectively. This can include finding the exact location of an incident and checking weather conditions. They also provide important safety advice to callers, helping to keep people safe until firefighters arrive.

“Their role goes far beyond speaking to the caller. They help coordinate the emergency response, identify the resources fire crews need, liaise with other emergency services and partner agencies, and provide updates throughout the incident.
