The weather might be dodgy -- but Skegness is still the place for Hucknall bowls veterans Dave and Janet Adams.

For the prolific duo added to their huge haul of trophies and titles by winning two more prestigious tournaments at the popular seaside resort.

First they took the mixed pairs championship at Skegness’s EBF tournament, beating a couple from Edwinstowe by 18 shots to ten in the final and receiving a trophy, two Jolly Fisherman figurines and £220 in prize money. Now the Adamses have followed up in the Skegness Over-55s EBA tournament, winning the open pairs title, even though they were up against a massive entry of 110 bowlers from all over the country.

The Hucknall couple defeated rivals from Blidworth by 20 shots to 11 in the final and duly received a trophy from Carl Vasey, proprietor of The Suncastle, a family pub in the town, which sponsored the event. They were also presented with two more Jolly Fisherman figurines, which makes 24 in all that they have picked up during their playing careers, and £700 in prize money.

The Adams duo, who bowl for the Rolls-Royce leisure club in Hucknall, have won countless domestic, county and regional honours over the years.

Now they are also passing on their skills to the younger generation for they offer free coaching to anyone wishing to take up bowls. The Rolls club also offers free membership for the first year to anyone wanting to join, whether they are beginners to the sport or already experienced players.

All those interested in either offer are asked to contact Dave Adams on 0115 9640413.
