NMAC-03-12-Marillion ents-NMSY
A celebration of sound, feeling and community awaits when Marillion head to Nottingham next year.
With over 40 years of music, a fiercely loyal global fan base, and a reputation as one of the UK’s most dynamic live bands, Marillion will play songs from across their extensive career and new music from their forthcoming album, currently expected next year.

Formed in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, in 1979, Marillion emerged from the post-punk music scene in Britain and blended aspects of punk rock and classic progressive rock.
Marillion released their debut single Market Square Heroes in 1982, followed by their first album Script for a Jester's Tear in 1983. They have released 20 studio albums in total and made eight top 10 UK albums between 1983 and 1994, including the chart-topping 1985 album with Misplaced Childhood. The album also produced two UK top 10 singles, Kayleigh and Lavender, while the follow-up album, 1987's Clutching at Straws, included another UK top 10 single, Incommunicado.
Clutching at Straws was the band's last studio album with original lead singer Fish, who left for a solo career in late 1988. He was replaced in 1989 by Steve Hogarth, which led to a new era of success, with a further 12 top 40 hit singles in the UK, including 2004's You're Gone, which charted at number seven.
The band have become known as industry trailblazers in recent years, forging strong links with their fans online as early as 1996 and helping pioneer ‘crowdfunding’ – whereby fans contribute directly to the cost of recording albums. Their fans are known for their exceptional level of devotion, which has translated into renewed commercial success, with the band’s 2022 album An Hour Before It's Dark reaching number 2 in the UK chart.
Steve Hogarth said of the tour: “We’ve always said that there’s nothing quite like playing live in the UK. The sheer emotional energy at these shows is usually pretty extraordinary. I’d buy a ticket to watch the crowd, if I didn’t get to do it for free."
The band play the Royal Concert Hall on Sunday September 20. Visit www.trch.co.uk or call 0115 989 5555 to book.
