In a break in the dismal summer weather, the Hucknall Ukulele Group hosted a popular flash mob in the park.
Performers from ukulele groups across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire joined forces with Bulwell Community Choir and HUG's own busking mate Ukulele Eric, to provide some entertainment in the park.

HUG member Mike Harris, one of the organisers, said, “The aim is to try to make it look spontaneous, although it has taken months to organise, rehearse and seek permissions.
"The help and support from Ashfield Council, our councillors and their events team has been invaluable. It’s great to get people together and play the ukulele. Our performances were well received with the public joining in and dancing.”
HUG is a voluntary-run, not-for-profit community organisation which was set up in September 2022 as a ukulele group for all ages and abilities. For more information, email [email protected]

Coun Waters said: “Coun Shaw and I were delighted to support this. There was lots of fun and we even had a go ourselves. Ukulele playing is a great stress reliever and it’s events like this that bring our great community together. I’ve invited them to come together again for our Food and Drink Festival in Hucknall on Sunday, August 20.”
