Oil heated households in Notts urged to keep pressure on Government

Homeowners around Notts urged to add name to letter asking Government to meet pledges

Over 1,000 consumers have sent a letter to the new Burnham government in just a few weeks asking the Prime Minister to keep his commitment to listen to rural villages, and now the 14,000 oil heated households in Nottinghamshire are being urged to add their name.

The letters call on the government to ensure rural homes have a say in how their homes will be heated in the future by publishing the findings from the Alternative Clean Heating Solutions consultation.

Currently, the government expect most homes on oil heating to switch to a heat pump. However, the consultation put the average cost of doing so at around £16,900. Whilst the government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme now offers oil heated homes a £9,000 grant, the concern is many would still face a significant shortfall.
