However, a jury armed with undeniable evidence placing him at the scene of the crime, disagreed and found him guilty on February 4.

Walker, of Langdown Close, Bulwell, was sentenced to prison for 12 months, suspended for two years, when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Friday, April 10.

He is required to pay £5,000 in compensation, and carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

PC Kerry Sansom, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Burglary offences can cause considerable cost and inconvenience to local businesses and are also extremely upsetting for victims.

“That is why the force takes burglaries incredibly seriously and will continue to take robust action against burglars who target homes and businesses for their own selfish gains.

“I hope Walker takes this chance to reflect on his behaviour.”
