Nottinghamshire fire fighters complete around the world challenge
Firefighters from Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service have collectively travelled 40,000km in 80 days for the Fire Fighters Charity.
Firefighters completed the around the world challenge but are committed to continuing after noticing a slight oversight.
A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue said: “We don't often admit it, but we got the challenge slightly wrong...40,000km is roughly the distance around the equator. To travel around the world is actually closer to 50,000km.
“The good news? We completed our original challenge with two weeks to spare, so we're extending it. That means we've got just under 10,000km left to travel before November 20.”
Staff have walked, cycled, ran, swam and rowed as part of the challenge.
