Hucknall become first team to beat new champions Kimberley
Hucknall have become the first side this season to beat new champions Kimberley Institute in the Nottinghamshire Premier League.
Kimberley came into the game on the back of 19 wins from 19 games – but third-placed Hucknall finally worked out how to beat them as they triumphed by 26 runs at the New Gatehouse Ground.

Daniel Blatherwick hit 38 as Hucknall made a solid start but Kimberley pegged them back at 112-5 with Aatish Kean Mahraj taking 4-47.
Hucknall skipper Sam Johnson then led the counter-attack, hitting 46 as he and Archie Moore (38) got Hucknall up to a total of 201-8 in their 50 overs.
Kimberley would have felt the target was well within their reach.
But they reckoned without Blatherwick and Oliver Horlock, who claimed seven wickets between them – Horlock finishing with 4-38 and Blatherwick 3-28 – as several Institute batters got starts but none could go on and they were bowled out for 174 in 34.2 overs.
Also in the Premier League, Papplewick & Linby’s superb second half of the season continued with an eight-wicket win at Attenborough.
Winning the toss and fielding first, Papplewick fired out the home side for just 120 in 32.4 overs with Sam Walker (4-21) and Alex Moor (3-31) doing the bulk of the damage, while only Parakrama Thenakoon (49) offered any resitance for the home side.
Papplewick then breezed home in reply, led by Joe Walker (58no) and Max Hunt (33), at 121-2 in 19.4 overs.
Other results: Cavaliers & Carrington 273-5 (Perera 81, Patel 71, Brown 51), beat Mansfield Hosiery Mills 243-6 (Smallwood 70), by 30 runs; Collingham & District 159 all out (Bridgens 53, Wright 6-33), beat Caythorpe 73 all out (Luckett 5-26), by 86 runs; Cuckney 225-8 (Rowe 59), beat Clipstone 211 (Chauhan 83) by 14 runs; Notts Arnold & Amateur 64-2, beat Wollaton 60 all out, by eight wickets.
