Openers shine as Hucknall thrash rock-bottom Attenborough

Openers Ryan Buckley and Oliver Horlock both hit centuries as Hucknall piled on the misery for bottom side Attenborough in the Nottinghamshire Premier League.

Buckley cracked 126 off 131 balls, with 10 fours and five sixes, as he and Horlock put on 233 for the opening wicket.

Greg Willows (25) and Sam Johnson (30no) then further supported Horlock – who finished on a magnificent 172no off 132 balls with 16 fours and four sixes – as Hucknall posted 365-2 in their 50 overs, Horlock and Johnson putting on an unbeaten 96 for the third wicket.

Shell-shocked Attenborough were never in it in reply once Connor Ramm (3-10) had reduced them to 64-6.

Opener Parakrama Thennakoon offered some resistence with 59 but Jacob Taylor and Joel Jordan both claimed two wickets each to bowl of the visitors for 118 in 29 overs to give Hucknall the win by a massive 247 runs.

Hucknall remain fourth in the table as the top end remained unchanged as the top four – Hucknall, Cuckney, Cavaliers & Carrington and leaders Kimberley Institute – all won, unbeaten Kimberley still 20 points clear at the top.

While the batters starred for Hucknall it was the bowlers who shone for Papplewick & Linby in a six-wicket win at Wollaton.

Batting first, Wollaton were blown away by the Papplewick attack as they were skittled for just 86 in 37 overs, Ben Bhabra leading the way with 3-3, while there were also wickets for Byron Hatton-Lowe, Alex Moor, Dillon Singh and Sam Walker.

Papplewick’s reply began badly at 4-2, but a third-wicket stand of 60 between Sam Watson (48) and Robin Smith 36no) ended any concerns, Smith seeing them home at 89-4 in just 12.1 overs.
