Hucknall boss wants more of the same as Yellows go for third straight win

Hucknall Town boss Tris Whitman is looking for a repeat performance from his team as Yellows face Wisbech Town in the UCL Premier Division North this weekend.

Another three points were secured in an exciting end to last week’s match at Ashby Ivanhoe as Yellows came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

And Whitman was pleased with how his squad approached the second half challenge at Ashby and wants the same attitude again at Aerial Way this week.

He said: “Last Saturday's game was another where we really needed maximum points to stay in and around the teams above us.

"We went into the game with some injury and fitness concerns from the previous game (against Harrowby), meaning we had to make some changes and monitor load and match minutes.

"We went into the game knowing it would be difficult as Ashby had made a number of new signings and the pitch would be difficult for us to play the way we wanted.

"Despite going two goals down early I felt we were comfortable in the game and we had some joy in how we set up, but lapses of concentration and not being clinical enough in the final third, meant we went in two down at half-time.

"We spoke about ways we would get joy in the second half as Ashby started to tire and that was the case.

"We got an early goal back from the spot and really started to dominate the ball.

"I felt likewise to (the Harrowby) game, the subs made a positive impact and we finished the game with more attack minded players which ultimately got us level and then finally on to win the game in the final moments.

"Overall it was a really pleasing result, even though we knew the performance would require us to show a different side to how we usually play, so wasn’t pretty at times.”

Yellows now look for a hat-trick of league wins on Saturday against a Wisbech side that has now gone six league games without a win.

The clubhouse is open from 1.30pm with kick of at 3pm.
