Southwell to face Thoresby in cup

In the Central Midlands League Cup, Clifton All Whites travelled to Bishops Drive to take on Southwell City, and returned with a 3-1 win.

Scott Litchfield with two, and Rob Gill were the Clifton scorers, Tarik Nadif on target for Southwell.

That result sends the All Whites to Thoresby Colliery in round three, which should be a game to watch.

Thoresby came through 5-1 against Bentley Colliery, the scorers here were James Gunn, Lewis Bingham, Josh Brentnall, Danny Wiltshire and Michael Fazakerley for the home side, Josh Copeland getting one for Bentley.

In the Black Dragon Badges South Division, Eastwood Community suffered their 10th successive defeat, this time at Blidworth Welfare, where Liam Theakstone’s hat-trick inspired the home side to a 5-0 win, Max Curzon and Eden Homer also scoring for Blidworth.

In the Black Dragon Badges North division Westella VIP moved into second place after a comprehensive six goal defeat of Ollerton Town.

Two of the bottom three met at Debdale Park, Sherwood Colliery and Phoenix sharing four goals and the points. Nick Langford twice gave Sherwood the lead, but goals by Kieran Gallagher and James Lawton gained a point for the South Yorkshire side.

Welbeck Welfare took the lead with a third minute goal from Kyle Lee, holding it almost to the break, when Kenzie Tomlinson equalised. Harworth completed a 2-1 win with Tom Walker grabbing the decider on the hour.
