Rumours have intensified today over the future of Manchester United's German international Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The midfielder, who signed a three-year deal just 12 months ago but started just 16 matches last season, appears to be surplus to the requirements of new United boss Jose Mourinho.

The 31-year-old did not train with the rest of the first team yesterday, according to the Daily Express, and reports earlier this week that he could be on his way out of Old Trafford have gathered pace.

The Sun also reports that Schweinsteiger is one of nine players who have been told they can leave. The paper says with Juventus superstar Paul Pogba set to join for a world-record £112m, the manager has warned many players they have no future at the club.

As well as Schweinsteiger, Tyler Blackett and James Wilson are among the players who could leave.

One player who could be on his way to Old Trafford is West Ham’s 17-year-old defender Reece Oxford, who according to the London Evening Standard has asked for first-team assurances from the club following interest from United.

Swansea City forward Andre Ayew could be joining West Ham at their new home this season, while Stoke City’s former England striker Peter Crouch has been linked with a move to Swansea.

Away from the players, The Guardian reports that new England boss Sam Allardyce has been blocked from adding former Derby County manager Paul Clement to his backroom staff.

The paper reports that ‘Big Sam’ wanted Clement to fulfill the part-time role previously held by Gary Neville, but Bayern Munich, who Clement joined as coach in the summer, have rejected a move by the FA to bring Clement into the national set-up.
