Notts couples '˜leap' to get married in 2016

Wedding anniversaries come round once a year for most, but not for six couples across Nottinghamshire having a wedding ceremony carried out by the County Council's Registration Service this Monday 29 February '“ this year's leap day.

Couples are tying the knot at Worksop and Mansfield Registration Offices, the Gilstrap in Newark, Welbeck Hall in West Bridgford and Grange Hall in Radcliffe-on-Trent.

In addition, one couple is having a renewal of vows ceremony in Mansfield on the day.

Helen Scaman from the Council’s Registration Service, said: “Mondays are traditionally quiet for weddings but we have more than usual on this year’s leap day this Monday.

“Often couples want something a bit different and not many have their wedding anniversary every four years.”

Register offices in the county are managed by the County Council and their registrars also undertake wedding, civil partnerships, renewal of vows and baby naming ceremonies at a wide range of approved venues across the county.
