Work underway on Papplewick playground refurbishment
Work has started on the refurbishment of a Papplewick playground, bringing new play opportunities for local children.
The project has been funded by a £100k grant from FCC Communities Foundation.
The new playground is behind the Village Hall on Linby Lane, Papplewick.
Coun Carolyn Hesketh, chair of Papplewick Parish Council said: “It's great to see our vision becoming a reality. We're grateful for the support from FCC Communities Foundation.”

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that distributes grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund, supported by FCC environment.
Cheryl Raynor, Grant Manager at FCC Communities Foundation, said: “It's fantastic to see construction beginning on the QEII playground refurbishment. This project will be a wonderful asset for local families, providing high-quality play opportunities and a welcoming space for the whole community to enjoy.
“We are proud to have supported the project and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on children, families and residents in Papplewick for many years to come.”
Work is expected to take five weeks and be completed by mid-November, with an official opening event on December 6, once all work has finished, to which everyone will be invited.
