Deputy prime minster Nick Clegg has visited Ashfield today (Friday 8th November) to see how being a member of the European Union has helped an Annesley business flourish.

Mr Clegg was given a tour round Autofil Worldwide Ltd, based on Sherwood Park, with Jason Zadrozny, the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Ashfield.

Autofil is Europe’s largest supplier of coloured polyester yarn, which is used in the manufacture of interior textiles for cars and other vehicles.

It employs 200 people at its state of the art facility on Sherwood Park, most of whom live locally.

Ninety-five per cent of its turnover derives from sales in continental Europe.

Mr Clegg said that it was an example of how being a member of the EU has brought jobs to Ashfield.
